About the Event
All of a sudden the temperature at night has fallen and I am feeling a pull to stay in bed a little longer in the mornings. Autumn is here and if you are in a creative autumn as well it is time for reflection, consolidation and a turn inwards. As with the rest of the year’s work and themes I am teaching I will spend the next few months exploring the characteristics of a creative fall season in my workshops and sessions.
We will start with a very special workshop: Potted Potential, a pot painting workshop. This past weekend it was the first autumn Full Moon as well as Equinox. In light of this special time of the year I wanted to create a completely different workshop and share an activity of play that I also indulge in in my studio. Celebrating the harvest is about celebrating potential that has come to fruition. It is about honoring and recognizing abundance and resting in the trust that winter is provided for.
I couldn’t think of a better workshop to celebrate the harvest of creative potential than painting beautiful ceramic casted vessels. These pots arrived in my studio in such a magical way that speaks of abundance, provision and potential: one day I got a call from a man that saw my poster for art sessions in Fish Hoek. He told me that he is working on a site where an artist has deserted a massive amount of perfectly casted unpainted pots and other ceramics. He wanted to know if I would be able to use them in my practice. I said “of course I’ll take them!”, because I have learnt not to stop the gifting flow of the universe. I recognized the potential in these pots and it started a whole new direction in my practice (merch and interiors musing…)
So this weekend I want to share these gifts with you and invite you to join me in painting your own pot, contemplating your potential and celebrating the harvest of creative energy in a Saturday morning workshop.
